Thinking About a Soup
Thinking About a Soup

Here I enjoyed arranging the various vegetables, juxtaposing shape, color, value and texture to create the harmony I sought.

A quiet village in rural Italy

Not a masterpiece…but…
I did this little piece in an amazingly quiet village north of Tuscanny in Italy. I was sitting on the steps of an alleyway behind the medieval church and trying to focus on issues of light and shade, compostion etc. I feel it’s only fair to say that the cute cat who kept rubbing against me and purring as I was trying to paint should take some of the blame for the results.

More Receding Mountains

Here I combined a number of techniques in order to portray the atmosphere of a wintry day in the Alps.

Into the distance

Sometimes I enjoy playing with forms that are almost silouettes.

Creating a sense of perspective and drama through color and value.

Silver Bowls with Fruit

Here are two exercises I just completed in class with teacher Beni Gassenbauer on the topic of reflective silver surfaces.
What color is silver really?
How do I portray it in both a realistic and inspiring way?
(Hint: it doesn’t matter what color the silver is, but rather what is going on all around it.)

Off and Running

With a sense of joy and gratitude my new web site was launched today.

Student’s Book Bag
My bags are packed, and I'm ready to roll...

Special thanks to Avi Greenstein for designing and creating the site.
I look forward to nurturing it as I continue to grow as an artist.
Your thoughts and comments are welcome.
Shalom, Jeremy
